Palliative care consortium
Palliative care consortia:
- Promote collaborative approaches to quality improvement in end of life and palliative care, and:
- Work to optimise the community’s access to high quality end of life and palliative care support.
Consortia also:
- Assist DHHS to implement the Victorian Government’s end of life and palliative care framework and other policies and programs to support people with a life limiting illness and their carers, families, friends and communities.
There are eight palliative care consortia in Victoria including three in metropolitan Melbourne and five in regional and rural Victoria.
In addition to the NW Metro Clinical Advisory Committee, the work of the NW Metro Consortium includes the management of regional projects to improve palliative care in aged care facilities and disability group homes.
